Megan English

Contemporary Dance, Movement Therapy

Megan English is a dancer and choreographer living in Hamilton, Ontario. She began her training in Sudbury, Ontario where she grew up. A graduate of York University’s Dance Program, Megan has performed in the works of diverse choreographers; most notably: Susie Burpee, Barbara Lindenberg and Tino Sehgal. Megan's creative process often stems from collaborations with writers, musicians and visual artists. Her dance project based on the silent films of Nell Shipman was supported by the Toronto Arts Council (2009) and presented at the 2010 St Andrews Festival of the Performing Arts. Megan is a Dance Educator for the National Ballet of Canada’s YOUdance program and has taught for the Toronto District School Board and the Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre. She was awarded a Masters in Dance Movement Therapy from Roehampton University in 2010. Megan has developed and implemented Dance Movement Therapy programs in settings such as Residential Treatment for Adolescents and Treatment for Eating Disorders. She is a leader in the development of this profession in Canada.
